Douglas T. Edwards, M.D., has performed thousands of intraocular procedures during his time at the Eye Clinic of Wisconsin and is proud to bring his experience to the Refractive Surgery Program.
Dr. Edwards graduated Summa Cum Laude from Wartburg College in Waverly, IA. He then went on to earn his M.D. from the University of Iowa. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. His national board exam score placed him in the top 3% of the country.
While at the Eye Clinic of Wisconsin Dr. Edwards has blended cataract and refractive procedures to include correcting nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Dr. Edwards has also implanted several intraocular lens types to reduce the need for reading glasses. He is certified to use the VISX and Intralase lasers, along with the Hansatome microkeratome.

Afua A. Shin, M.D., received her undergraduate degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from Yale University, New Haven, CT, in 2009. From 2009-2010, she led an independent research project at the Tokyo Ariake University of Medical and Health Sciences in Tokyo, Japan. She earned her medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO, in 2014.
The following year, Dr. Shin finished her internship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL, and went on to complete her ophthalmology residency there in 2018.
Dr. Shin completed a fellowship in Cornea and External Diseases at the University of California Davis in July of 2019.
