Robert N. Beauchene, M.D.
Dr. Beauchene is a general ophthalmologist with a special interest in cataract surgery and diabetes screening. Dr. Beauchene has extensive experience in cataract surgery and is continually enhancing his education and incorporating new techniques in this field as well as all general aspects of ophthalmology.
Dr. Beauchene received his undergraduate and medical degree from University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario. After internship he attended Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario where he completed his residency program in neuropathology and ophthalmology. Dr. Beauchene is currently re-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Dr. Beauchene practiced ophthalmology for ten years in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. He then moved to Arizona in 1998 where he practiced until he joined the Eye Clinic of Wisconsin in 2002.
Douglas T. Edwards, M.D.
Dr. Edwards received his Bachelor of Arts at Wartburg College in Waverly, IA in 1995. He earned his M.D. from the University of Iowa Medical School in Iowa City, IA, in 1999 and finished his internship at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI, the following year. He completed his Ophthalmology Residency at the Mayo Clinic Department of Ophthalmology in Rochester, MN, 2003. In addition to scoring in the top 3% on his board exams, Dr. Edwards has performed thousands of eye surgeries and has certifications with the VISX laser, Intralase, and custom LASIK procedure, as well as being Board Certified and a member of AAO and ISRS. Dr. Edwards joined the clinic in 2003.
Kevin T. Flaherty, M.D.
Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery
Dr. Flaherty received his Bachelor of Science in molecular biology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1979. He earned his M.D. from Loyola University of Chicago in 1984 and finished his internship at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, WA, the following year. He completed his Ophthalmology Residency at Loyola University of Chicago in 1988. Dr. Flaherty completed a fellowship in external disease and corneal transplants at the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY, in 1989. He then completed additional training in oculoplastics and reconstructive surgery at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston, MA. Dr. Flaherty joined the clinic in 1989.
Luis Ferdinand M. Galang, D.O.
Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Dr. Galang received his Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1990. He earned his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from Des Moines University Osteopathic Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, in 2000 and finished his internship at Michigan State University’s POH Medical Center in Pontiac, Michigan, the following year. He completed his Ophthalmology Residency at the Detroit Osteopathic Ophthalmology Consortium in Pontiac, Michigan, 2004. Dr. Galang finished his fellowship in ophthalmic and facial plastic surgery at Consultants in Ophthalmic & Facial Plastic Surgery in Southfield, Michigan, in 2005. Dr. Galang practiced in Troy, MI, before joining the clinic in 2007.
Matthew G. Hattenhauer, M.D.
Glaucoma & Comprehensive Ophthalmology
Dr. Hattenhauer received his Bachelor of Science from St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota, in 1987. He earned his M.D. from the University of Wisconsin, at Madison in 1992 and then completed a transitional year at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He finished his Ophthalmology Residency at the Mayo Clinic Department of Ophthalmology in Rochester, Minnesota, in 1996. He remained there for his glaucoma fellowship, which he completed in 1997. Dr. Hattenhauer was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, before joining the clinic in 1999.
Christopher J. Kucharski, M.D.
Comprehensive Ophthalmology & Glaucoma
Dr. Kucharski received his undergraduate degree in biology from Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, in 2000. He went on to earn his medical degree from Loyola University’s Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois, and completed his internship in the Indiana University School of Medicine’s Department of Surgery. Dr. Kucharski completed his ophthalmology residency at Indiana University School of Medicine’s Department of Ophthalmology before he went on to his Glaucoma Fellowship in the University of Wisconsin’s Department of Visual Sciences. Dr. Kucharski joined the Eye Clinic of Wisconsin in 2010.
Vernon C. Parmley, M.D.
Corneal/External Disease & Comprehensive Ophthalmology
Dr. Parmley received his Bachelor of Science in microbiology from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, in 1977. He earned his M.D. from The Uniformed Services School of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland, in 1982 and finished his internship at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco, California, the following year. He remained at Letterman for his Ophthalmology Residency, which he completed in 1987. Dr. Parmley finished his fellowship training in cornea and external disease at Dean McGee Eye Institute, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, in 1991. He was the Director of Cornea Services at Madigan Army Medical Center until joining the clinic in 2003. Prior to leaving the Army, Dr. Parmley established the Madigan Refractive Surgery Center for treatment of refractive errors in soldiers.
David C. Tuman, M.D.
Dr. Tuman received his Bachelor of Arts in economics from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, in 1987. He earned his M.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1991 and completed his internship at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado, the following year. He finished his Ophthalmology Residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, in 1997. After completing assignments to Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii and Blanchfield Army Community Hospital at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Dr. Tuman joined the clinic in 2000.
